What do I offer?

All of my flowers are grown outside in flower beds right here in sunny Broad Valley, Manitoba. The season begins once things start blooming around June, and continues through until frost in the fall around the end of September. There are a wide variety of colours and textures growing throughout the season. No two arrangements are the same: Mother Nature ultimately dictates what is available and when! Since sun, wind, rain or insect pressures can delay blossoms unexpectedly, I simply cut the blooms as they are ready and get creative in putting the colours together.

If you happen to have something very specific in mind, I will definitely work with you to put together an arrangement based on what’s available at the time.

You can find lots of example photos from previous summers here: Flower Pics!

What are the prices?

There are a few kinds of arrangements that folks seem to gravitate towards, so I have listed those in the table below for easy reference. Arrangements can be prepared in either a paper sleeve or a mason jar (the masons for the large and extra large arrangements are an extra $5 and $15, respectively).

Keep in mind that the arrangement sizes listed are a combination of both the physical size of the flowers, and the type of flowers within. The specific combination of flowers will vary each and every time, but generally speaking you’re likely to find the larger and more ‘demanding’ flowers in the large and extra large arrangements.

Note that arrangements bought within a Bouquet Subscription will provide a discount from the made to order prices noted below.

How do I get my flowers?

There are a few different ways of getting your flowers to you!

  • You can always pop in to our place in Broad Valley (just 7 miles south of Fisher Branch) to pick up your arrangement as you are going by. Arrangements would be left on the porch for you for contactless pickup.
  • I can drop-off arrangements within town limits of Fisher Branch, Poplarfield or Arborg. At this time, I do not offer delivery outside of town limits.
  • I also have a pick-up point in the Health Centre in Fisher Branch, where you can drop by during business hours to pick up your arrangement: 10am-6pm Mon to Sat (open until 8pm Fridays).

How should I care for my flowers?

The best way to make your flowers last as long as possible is simply to change the water!! Easy, right??

Changing the water every two days or so can add days onto the vase-life of most cut flowers. Snipping the ends with sharp, clean scissors helps as well, as it allows the flowers to drink up that fresh water more efficiently. Adding a teaspoon or two of regular, ol’ granulated sugar can also help keep them looking perkier for longer, but it’s not necessary.

Pro tip: 1 tsp sugar plus 1/2 to 1 tsp household bleach into a litre or so of water is a decent replacement for those little ‘flower preservative’ packets you often see tucked into store bought flowers. The sugar provides the energy that the flowers would have been getting from the sun and soil before they were cut, and the bleach helps to prevent or slow the growth of bacteria in the water, which would reduce the vase life of the flowers.
